About the Celebration

A family-friendly afternoon of food, music, and memories.

This is a drop-in afternoon filled with food, activities, music, and meaningful moments together. Bring the whole family — there'll be something for every generation as we look back on 50 years and forward to what's next.

Rain or shine — we're covered with indoor space and a large outdoor tent.

1975 – 2026

Fifty years of building churches across Ontario.

From our first project to over 500 completed churches, the journey has been shaped by the trust of congregations and the craft of the people who build with us.

1975

Hawkey Church Management founded

Don Hawkey starts the company with a single focus — helping young churches establish themselves with economical, purpose-built structures.

1980s

Growth across Southern Ontario

The company expands its reach across the GTA and central Ontario, building its reputation through repeat clients and word of mouth.

1990s

100+ projects completed

HCMI passes the 100-project milestone as churches across Ontario embrace larger, more integrated community spaces.

2005

Bethel Canadian Reformed Church

Completion of a traditional-style sanctuary with signature detailed features that has become a signature project for the firm.

2008 & 2012

Global Kingdom Ministries

Two-phase build of one of HCMI's largest projects to date — a 79,000+ sq ft campus with a 1,450-seat sanctuary and recreational wing.

2015

Third-space design becomes standard

Projects like King Street Pentecostal and Richmond Hill Chinese Community Church reflect the shift toward foyers, cafés, and community hubs within church facilities.

2021

Temple Baptist Church

A 500-seat sanctuary expansion with large community spaces and new children's ministry areas — representing HCMI's continued focus on spaces that serve the next generation.

2026

50 years & 500+ projects

Five decades in, HCMI continues to walk alongside churches across Ontario — one committee, one project, one community at a time.
